Acceptance of Terms

Holding valid CPSIA certification is conditional upon acceptance and compliance with the following terms, conditions, policies, and disclaimers contained on this page.

Completion of our CPSIA course constitutes your agreement and acceptance of these terms and conditions and policies. If you do not agree with any terms and conditions below, please complete the non-disclosure form at the bottom of this page and get confirmation from our office.

PSIA’s Australia Code of Ethics states the values to which we are committed.  This Code of Ethics sets the tone for appropriate conduct and is intended to provide general guidance about acceptable behavior.  It does not address every potential situation or issue that may exist or arise. PSIA may update this page from time to time. If there are any significant changes made, CPSIA will be notified via direct email. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes. All changes to the policy are effective immediately and applicable to anyone who holds valid CPSIA certification.


PSIA promotes a high standard of professionalism, business ethics, and inspection procedures.  Playground Safety Inspectors Australia Pty Ltd CPSIA subscribe to the following Code of Ethics in the course of their business


1.      The primary purpose of CPSIA is to ensure the health and safety of the users of the play facility.


2.      The primary objective of CPSIA is to protect the user, minimise the risk of injury, identify and make corrections, develop a comprehensive management program and documentation and forward planning.


3.      The CPSIA and advice provided by PSIA’s CPSIA training courses shall be independent of any commercial, financial or other pressures and reflect the interests of the commissioning agency and the users of the play facility.


4.      The CPSIA will maintain up to date awareness of developments in the field of playground safety, standards and ensure their continued competence.


5.      The CPSIA shall treat all information with their client or employer as private and confidential unless this would compromise the primary purpose of the inspection to ensure the health and safety of users of the play facility.


6.      The CPSIA shall not undertake any action that might bring PSIA into disrepute.


7.      The CPSIA shall conduct inspections and provide reports in “good faith” and “as is” at the time of inspection and without prejudice.


8.      The CPSIA shall perform compliance and audit assessment, comprehensive, operational and routine inspections on playground/s utilising the information contained in the current Australian Standards, as well as “best practice”, experience and Standards interpretation. **


9.      The CPSIA shall support the aim and focus on injury prevention, conformance and assessment against the Australian Standards and guidelines.


10.   The CPSIA shall actively promote the interests and reputation of PSIA.


11.   The CPSIA will ensure he/she and/or their employer is covered by appropriate levels of Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance.


12.   The CPSIA shall declare that he/she not a person prohibited by the Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998* from seeking, undertaking or remaining in child-related employment.


13.   In any dispute over ethics and their interpretation, the Director of PSIA shall be the arbitrators.




The Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998 makes it an offence for a person convicted of a serious sex offence (a Prohibited Person) or a Registrable Person under the Child Protection (Offenders Registration) Act 2000, to apply for, undertake or remain in, child-related employment.


** It should be noted that PSIA does not train in determination of loads or impact absorbing tests and does not take responsibility for the installation, maintenance and/or design of the items within each playground and surrounding facilities. Competent engineers should be consulted to ensure that the structural and mechanical integrity of all equipment and items conforms and is in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards and the playground equipment manufacturer.
